LEADERSHIP WITHOUT DISCIPLINE STAGNATES.

It is a well-known fact that
a nation that wants to make an - round marked socio-economic growth must have moral leadership in place. This is what is lacking in most African leadership.

We have a situation where moral and legal clarity is usually attacked by a self-interested elite group steeped in deceit and with no conscience.

Nigeria, for example, is no exception to this challenging and uninspiring status quo. This is what is playing out in today's Nigeria. There is an ongoing unhealthy rivalry between two elite groups. A subtle supremacy battle in which each of them wants to undo the other to stay politically relevant.

In the process, all kinds of divisive strategies are employed( ethnicity, religion, and even gender) to confuse the sentimental populace and divert attention away from the glaring shortcomings of leadership. Subsequently, governance suffers and there is a dearth of needed public infrastructure to improve the well-being of the governed.

For Nigeria to make any appreciable progress, leadership and followership must drop their sentimental blinders, put on the garb of statesmanship and patriotism otherwise Nigeria's pace of progress shall remain agonizingly slow.
